We had a nice meal at Nalan, a vegetarian Indian restaurant that really impressed us. The food was flavorful but not overly spicy—great for those who enjoy balanced, aromatic dishes. The chapati and roomali roti were large and fresh—one piece is more than enough per person. The basmati rice is on the pricier side, but totally worth it: fluffy, fragrant, and with impressively long grains. Our favorites were the aloo gobi and the dal tadka—both were comforting, well-seasoned, and absolutely satisfying. The service was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. Food did take a little while to arrive, but it was clearly made fresh and worth the wait. A great spot for anyone looking for quality vegetarian Indian food in a clean, relaxed setting. We’ll definitely return! Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5

Nalan is fantastic vegetarian choice at the Capitol Singapore. We visited on the Mother's Day (May 12, 2024) and they had a special menu (see the photo). Usually I take photos of the dishes to post reviews, but this time, I only took couple of photos (just soup and the dessert), because the food was very very tasty and I was never tempted to take my phone out for a photo. Crispy Mushrooms with Garlic Sauce was heavenly, I can only explain it in words here, he he 🙂 The main course i.e., Mixed Vegetable Coconut curry and Jackfruit Rogan Rosh was out of hte world... It was my first time tasting a Jackfruit based side-dish for the Ghee Parotta... Such an incredible taste... Ghee Parotta was very small, it could have been big... The bell pepper rice was the king of the special menu...Everyone one liked it and we went for the 2nd round.. The restaurant was kind enough of offer it as complimentary for the second time...This restaurant is a bit expensive as it is situated in the a posh mall.. My sincere thanks to our host Mr. Baskar Anna... Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5 Recommended dishes Schezwan Fried Rice

Better than going to Little India to avoid crowded place. South Indian, North Indian, chats all are superb.

Being there after singapore night festival 2019. Restaurant menu is divided into snacks and other main course. Menu options are good from Chaat to Punjabi dishes to uttapam. I ordered schezwan noodles, onion capsicum uttapam and lassi. Yes! I like lassi and i can have it with any dish 😆. Noodles were good, a bit oily. It was served with tomato chilli sauce. I forgot to ask schezwan sauce. Uttapam was also tasty and as usual in every restaurant and food court in singapore it was served with 3 chutnies. Although for both dishes quantity of noodle was less and size of uttampam was little small. Prices as moderate. Restaurant is situated in basement. It was clean and staff was freindly. They also have sweets at billing counter. I saw motichur laddo and balushahi. Yes, tht was balushahi..saw it first time in singapore. Would recommend this restaurant to go and check it out.

Phong JansenLocal Guide Level 6
Not a gourmet for Indian food, but the Thosai did wow me with “peanut butter” flavoured condiment. Thosai was well made and tasty, without being too thick and still retain the crunchy texture. Highly recommend to go with any of the varieties of it! Though it’s a usual hawker food, Nalan restaurant did make it standout from just hawker food! It’s not very small either!

Note: Nalan now proudly accepts AMEX cards, addressing previous concerns and making it even more accessible for diners.

Manish Gehlot Local Guide Level 7
One of the best Indian restaurant in Singapore. Absolutely stunning south indian dishes specially dosa, Filter coffee, fried rice, Chinese dishes. Even north Indian delicacies are excellent and difficult to get in Singapore. Excellent option for Vegetarians who want to have Indian cuisines in Singapore otherwise tou need to head to Little India everytime. Highly recommended for Indian food. Only con I noticed is that they don't accept AMEX card. Also it is almost full in the evenings.

Her endorsement, even from a non-vegetarian family, underscores Nalan’s broad appeal.

Nathasha Chander Local Guide Level 3
I have to give a shoutout to the restaurant for the best filter coffee that I have had in all my years of living in Singapore. I had 2 cups. So there’s that. The food we ordered was amazing. Though my family is hard core non vegetarian, i would definitely recommend Nalan for a good vegetarian option. Food was amazing. Idlis were soft, dosa crispy, Chola (chickpea curry) with the huge batoora - finger licking good. Service took a little while but understandable cause it was really packed. But hands down good food and spending a little extra once in a way is given. Shoutout to the lady who served us( sorry didn’t get her name) she was really sweet and very friendly. And shout out to the staff that got me a special cup of coffee in the end. All in all a good tummylicious experience. Will definitely visit again especially for the “COFFEE” 😊 Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5
